For years marketing people tried to reinvent Liverpool as it went through its renovation. But for me Liverpool is the waterfront and over my stay on Merseyside many hours if not days were spent on Wirral looking across the River Mersey to that awe-inspiring waterfront.

From the ground, from the air I think you would struggle to find a more majestic waterfront anywhere win the world. Eventually recognised as such by UNESCO which granted Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City World Heritage Site status in 2004.
