The Bond of Friendship - Reflections on China and Britain

THE rise of China as a 21st century 'superpower' is very much on the agendas and the minds of everyone with a grasp of global affairs, aware of the impact this is having on the international stage.

This book celebrates, and reflects on, those cultural, academic, sporting and commercial links between China and the UK over the last 60 years that have shaped the contemporary bilateral understanding we now enjoy. In particular, it highlights the importance of the UK presence at the Shanghai Expo in 2010 and features a commentary by the UK consul general Carma Eliot OBE and Professor Zhou Hanmin, deputy director of the executive committee of the Shanghai Expo.

The book also features a foreword by the current Chinese ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Liu Xiaoming.

It is a 'window' into the cross-cultural relations that bind the two nations and is sprinkled with a series of personal reflective essays by Chinese and British contributors, as well as a smattering of facts and figures. It is also lavishly illustrated with an array of fascinating, atmospheric and historic photographs.
